I watched it happen to 8chan the past couple months when 4chan anons came over during the exodus from the new 4chan owner. They didnt even lurk for a day. there were trap threads, ylyl threads and cringe threads and the board was mostly ylyl, get and porn for a couple days until every other thread was a meta thread about what to do and where to migrate to. Since the 4chan users came there (couple hundred or so iirc), the site went from ~3000-3200 users on /b/ at its peak at any given time to about ~1200-1400 users now at any given time. 8chan anons are pretty much non existent at this point. If you post something there from more than 5 months ago most of them dont know wtf is going on. I do think we have a better chance at dealing with new users than 8chan did though for several reasons. Most of them are massive spergs, so much that they have spammers that will spam a thread to oblivion when you mention something the spammer doesnt like. I think our off topic system will encourage users to lurk and understand what makes a thread on topic and would strive to make on topic threads that interest the older users. Another leg up we have on 8chan is for newchums to see threads like these, where our opinions and views may differ, but it is still possible to argue and understand other points. >>139932 I have to say I do admire your dedication chum.
